Dr. Leon Moores is a speaker, author, and a practicing professor of pediatric neurosurgery. Leon was a West Point Cadet, earning his BS in Chemistry and Physics before serving as an infantry lieutenant in the 82nd Airborne Division.

After earning his MD from the Uniformed Services University, Leon has spent decades serving in leadership positions in both the military and private sector including as the Chief of Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Deputy Commander (SVP) National Naval Medical Center Bethesda, Commander (CEO) Fort Meade Medical system, CEO of Pediatric Specialists of Virginia, and as CEO and President of the Inova Health System Medical Group —the largest medical group in northern Virginia.

Leon is a true student and practitioner of leadership, having earned his Doctor of Science in Healthcare Leadership from the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Leon has been recognized numerous times for his leadership in uniform and as a civilian. At West Point, he earned both the AUSA and Patton Awards. He also was the Honor Leadership Graduate from the Infantry Basic Course, the Uniformed Services University, and the War College. He has the distinction of twice being named Army Surgeon General’s physician leader of the year and has received citations from the Governors of Virginia and Maryland.

Dr. Leon Moores is a practicing physician and an in-demand speaker and leadership consultant. He lives and works in Northern Virginia.
